Really enjoyed this!  I have one comment about a premise in the film; that women do not get the credit they deserve for creating this cuisine.  I agree, that the uninitiated make this mistake.  As a native San Antonian I cannot remember a single instance growing up where my or my friends fathers were in the kitchen cooking; backyard maybe, at the pit.  One of the best parts of growing up was being fed outstanding Texas-Mexican cooking whenever you set foot in a friend’s house.  You could taste the love these women had for their families, and their friends. Always mutual!

I would argue that the premise is appropriate when speaking to the way the food is represented in the mass media; usually explained by male chefs, perhaps some lucky enough to have learned from their mothers and grandmothers.  Austin360 published an article that serves nicely as a lead-in to the film; link below.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
